Back in November, LA’s favorite blues trio The Record Company released the Feels So Good EP, a rowdy collection of new tunes that was aptly described by Buzzbands.LA as “five more soulful missives from the L.A. trio whose revivalesque shows have been bringing smiles to the faces of everybody, including, probably, the ghost of John Lee Hooker.” On March 18th, the Feels So Good EP will get a much deserved vinyl released via Kill/Hurt Records. This limited edition release expands the original 5 song EP with an ultra-rare B-Side containing 3 unreleased, extended-length jams recorded by the band specifically for late-night listening sessions.
To celebrate the announcement, the band released a needle drop video of first of the unreleased tracks, Never Gonna Cry For Me.
We’ve been on hiatus for 2 years, but Kill/Hurt is back in action and ready for 2014!
The first epic announcement is that Computer Magic is back with a spectacular EP called “Extra Stuff” and Kill/Hurt will be pressing the 12″ vinyl and two special edition cassette versions! Danz takes her ethereal dream pop to a whole new level on this one, so sign up to the mailing list and stay tuned for details on when it will be arriving.
The second big announcement is The Record Company put together some secret, amazing, raw and gritty blues rock jams especially for the 12″ vinyl version of their new “Feels So Good” EP that will be coming out on Kill/Hurt in Spring 2014! Nobody has heard these yet, and the only place to hear them is the B-Side of the Kill/Hurt version of their new EP.
If you haven’t heard either EP yet, check out the posts below and get excited for them to arrive on vinyl and cassette.
ALSO: We do have some cassettes left over from the last few 2011 releases! These have been unavailable since January 2012, so check out the “Releases” section and see if you are missing any from your collection. There are EXTREMELY limited quantities of whatever is not marked “Sold Out” so act fast!
Head on over to our release page to purchase our two new slammin’ releases — KH009 by Snakehole and KH010, Teenagers by Tennis System. You might want to hurry, since both of these tapes nearly sold out in the presale.
In summer bummer news, USPS raised their prices for first class mail (what we use to ship) on January 22nd, 2012. As a result, we have raised our shipping prices because this new fee hike is ridiculous! (Seriously, the price of mailing one tape first class to Europe increased by over $1.00 USD!) We’re sorry for any anger this causes. We’re angry, too.
If you live in Los Angeles, make sure you keep yr schedule open on December 15 — you’re not going to want to miss Tennis System play as a part of Traffic Ctrl, a new monthly series at the Airliner.
Kill/Hurt is a co-presenter for the event, and we’ll be there on hand with copies of KH010 – Teenagers by Tennis System! This will be your first chance to grab a copy of this rad tape. For more information and to RSVP, head on over here.
TRAFFIC CRTL at the AIRLINER
Thursday, December 15th
Tennis System w/ Open Source Rebellion, Wilding, Champagne Leader + More.
8PM / $5 / 18+ / RSVP
Sorry, guys! If you missed out on this one, be sure to sign up for our mailing list (see box on the upper right-hand side of this website) as we will update everyone by email if we decide to repress Live at the Smell.
We have 80+ packages to put together over the course of this week, so please patiently wait for yr orders. This label is still only a two person operation, and sometimes our day jobs do get in the way of making this a quick and easy process. Don’t worry, we won’t forget about you! Know that we’re prepping yr tapes to send them yr way!
Tijuana Panthers might have a few copies left to sell at shows, but we can guarantee anything. You should, however, head on over to the band’s website and purchase a copy of Max Baker on vinyl. If you missed out on the tape (or not) this is a rad piece to add to your record collection!
After many months of mixing, coordinating and putting all the pieces together — it’s here! Relieve the Babies’ January visit to Los Angeles with this live (!!) tape, recorded by us at the Smell. There’s only 100 of these in existence, but less than half remain after the presale, so you should act fast!
Want to hear what this sounds like? Stream “Breaking the Law” below or watch a video taken from the night of the performance of the band doing “Sick Kid”:
I was in NYC for CMJ last week and brought a bunch of copies to the Babies, so you might be able to grab a copy from them at one of their shows if you’re lucky enough!
Special thanks to Cali from Teenage Teardrops for KH008’s rad artwork + many more thanks to Jim Smith at the Smell for letting us record this amazing set in the first place!
Los Angeles’ newest shoegazing grungy dream team (and Kill/Hurt artist) Tennis System debuted their “Arcane” music video all across the Internet today. We suggest you grab a pair of sunglasses and take some anti-seizure medication before watching this awesome flashy journey down the Pacific Coast Highway.
The track will be featured on the band’s upcoming full-length, Teenagers; the band will self-release the album on (cool red) vinyl and Kill/Hurt will handle the cassette release! We’re really excited and humbled to work with such a great up and coming local band.
Speaking of cassettes — we just got word this afternoon that the shells for the Babies (KH008), Snakehole (KH009) and Tennis System (KH010) tapes are on their way to Kill/Hurt HQ! Once they arrive, Chris and I will begin dubbing + packaging The Babies’ Live at the Smell just in time for my trip to NYC where I’ll bring the tapes to the band in person. Woo!
Things are about to get crazy over here, so I hope you all are ready…
Los Angeles’ favorite unclassifiable experimental electro-folk pop supergroup Pizza! has spent the past year writing and recording new material — and today, the first bits of these totally awesome jams surfaced on the Pizza! Bandcamp. The best news (besides the fact that there’s finally some new jams from Pizza!) is that the tracks are available to download for free.
Check out the “Riding Through the Jungle” single below:
There are sill a few copies of Pizza!’s KILL/HURT release, Bogus Rimshots From the Fourth left in our store, but we don’t expect them to stick around much longer, especially with these new tracks making the blog-rounds. All copies of KH002 now come with a free digital download of the album, too!
Pizza! frontman Geoff Geis recently released a solo album, Princess, available on cassette through his own Vanity Projects imprint. This album is really rad — think Scott Walker without all the pomp and circumstance, with a little more sarcasm and a whole lot more synthesizers and drum machines. (Yeah, that sounds amazing, doesn’t it?)
Some lucky KILL/HURT fans might already be in the know about the sheer awesomeness of KH007 from the presale email we sent out this morning — but for the rest of you, there’s a whole week to get excited about our newest release from Long Beach surf rock trio Tijuana Panthers.
Max Baker, the band’s first full-length LP, combines gritty, uptempo garage jams with elements of 60s pop; it’s the perfect album for the end of the summer! But, don’t take our word for it and stream the entire album below!
Dubbed by Kat + Chris onto super shiny gold C42 cassettes, KH007 will be limited to only 50 tapes! Even better, the cassette version of Max Baker features a special bonus track you can’t get on the LP! Public onsales will begin next Tuesday. (If you don’t want to miss out on presales in the future, sign up for our mailing list at the top of this page.)
In other exciting Tijuana Panthers news, the band plays FYF Fest in Los Angeles this weekend, opening up the Michaelangelo Stage at 1:20pm before Ty Segall. We’ll see you at the show!
KH010 is still a few weeks away, but if you live on the East Coast there’s good news! Come on out to one of Tennis System‘s fall shows on their East Coast tours and try to supress all your excitement for their upcoming KILL/HURT release, Teenagers.
In between recording and mastering their new album (coming soon, we hear!) Pizza! released this totally amazing and inspired music video of their song, “Be a Man.” Check it out below!
The song is featured on their KILL/HURT release Bogus Rimshots from the Fourth. We have a few copies of the tape left in stock and it will not be repressed — so if you like what you hear on the video, grab the tape while you can! All copies of KH002 now come with a FREE digital download of the album.
In other Pizza! news, frontman Geoff Geis recently released a solo album, Princess, on his personal imprint Vanity Projects. The album has been getting rave reviews around town, so definitely give it a listen or pick up a copy of your own! Geoff’s voice is completely captivating in the best of ways.
Cowabunga Babes are heading on a West Coast tour in August, so make sure you catch them if they’re rolling through your town! Check out the dates below.
Several dates on the band’s routing are open and they’re looking for shows! If you can help ‘em out, please email the band ASAP!
The ‘Babes are also prepping a few new releases, including a tape with Fullerton cassette powerhouse Burger Records and a full-length LP, Going Nowhere, on Volar Records. (You can pre-order the ‘Babes LP on the Volar site, FYI.) The band was also recently featured in P+M Magazine, which is available as a free download here.
To get yrself pumped up for the Cowabunga Babes’ shows, check out the rad tour video Cassie made below:

Miami’s scuzziest + trashiest girl punks, Snakehole, are prepping their August release with Kill/Hurt and the band and team KH could not be more excited. We’ve heard the tracks and they are incredible — try envisioning gothy metal punks skateboarding through the crowds of North Beach causing trouble and kicking ass, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what KH009 will sound like.
If your imagination seems to be blanking out on you, there’s always the option of checking out the unmastered version of “Weird Dudes” off the Snakehole bandcamp. Jam out the track below!

Pre-orders for KH006 by Pizazz Musiq go out tomorrow morning. You still have 24 hours to sign up for the KILL/HURT email list to get a chance to grab this ultra-dancey electropop gem before it’s gone forever. (Orders will open up to the public at the end of the week.)
Pizazz Musiq is limited to 50 hand numbered copies on hot pink cassettes and will not be repressed.
Check out a sneak preview of a track from KH006, “We Get Around” and get excited for Pizazz Musiq!
In anticipation for her upcoming 7″ single to be released on London’s Roundtable Records, Computer Magic released a snazzy, totally awesome video this morning for “The End of Time.”
This is the same track that was also featured on both editions of the Get a Job cassette! (Sorry guys, this is still sold out and we won’t be repressing it in cassette form. You may be able to snag a copy from Vacation Vinyl in Silver Lake — but we can’t make any promises! It could be gone, too!)
Check out the surreal Jesse Jenkins-directed video below and watch Danz romp around NYC in a kid-sized NASA spacesuit. It’s equal parts whimsical and disconcerting while feeling slightly post-apocalyptic in true Computer Magic fashion.
A few weeks ago, Cowabunga Babes announced the band would temporarily split due to band member relocation. Everyone assumed this would be the end of the ‘Babes — but now, there’s some good news!
Everyone’s favorite Austin (and now for some members, Los Angeles) based garage punk powerhouse will play a handful of shows at various DIY festivals up and down the West Coast this summer. Catch them if you can, because we can’t promise something like this will happen again for a while!
There’s about 10 copies of Cowabunga Babes vs. The Zoltars left in our store. We aren’t repressing this, so just like the ‘Babes’ shows, get it while you can.
If you’re lucky enough to live in or around Austin, TX, get on out to the 29th Street Ballroom to catch the very last performance of Cowabunga Babes — ever! Cassie, one of the ‘Babes, is moving out to Los Angeles — so be sure to watch this amazing band go out in style!
You’ll need to RSVP to the show, which is 21+ — don’t worry about tickets though, because the show is FREE.
While we’re sad to see the ‘Babes go, both Chris and I are glad we were able to put out their split with the Zoltars. There’s about 10 copies of this super-sweet tape left in the store, so get yours before they’re gone forever.
In Zoltars-related news, the band has a slew of new releases on a ton of rad Austin-based labels. They recently put out a 7″ on Sundae Records (which you can grab here), a cassingle with Fungal Hunger (available for purchase here) and a live tape recorded at Natrix Natrix through Voice Academy (available here). Pick them up and support Austin’s vibrant, eclectic music scene!
The Zoltars also have a few shows in the works, so if you find yourself in Austin, be sure to check them out.
THE ZOLTARS – SUMMER TOUR DATES
April 20 @ Beerland, Austin, TX w/ German Measles
May 13 @ Beerland, Austin, TX w/ the Wiggins
In celebration of their upcoming 7″, Ghost Animal premiered a new music video for their song “Single Man.” The song comes as the B-side to the “In Your Room” single, which will be released on April 20th via European label Amdiscs; you can pre-order the 7″ through Amdiscs. (Kill/Hurt will also receive a small amount of copies in the next few weeks.)
Michael and Marisa have also been hard at work hand-making official Ghost Animal shirts! They’re super rad and available for sale on the band’s blog. We hear there’s not many left, so pick one up while you can! (Same goes for copies of KH004; there are only four tapes left in stock and it will not be repressed.)
Computer Magic‘s Get a Job is now in its second pressing! The tape is still limited to 50 hand numbered copies, 25 of each color — but instead of “On VHS,” the green tape now features “Science Channel 9″ as the closing track. (See full tape tracklisting below.)
After this batch of tapes sell out, we will not repress KH005.
